We had a great holiday break. Life hit us full force once the break was over and I feel like we are treading water in the deep end of the pool, sinking down a bit and on the weekends we get a gasp of breath. Thus the cycle goes on and we try to keep up with it.

This is Daryl headed to a meeting. He will put random things in his backpack and put on one of his ties and tell me he has to go to a meeting with one of his friends. Then he tries to leave the house and really go somewhere. Ah.

Me holding the two youngest Egbert cousins. Ruth and Logan are about five months apart but Logan out weights Ruth by a few pounds already and has past the 20 pound make and just turned six months. He is a stout kid.
I just read that. That seems rather dramatic; it is not that bad, on the other hand it is. I guess such is life.
Here are some specifics on each of us.
Ruth is 11 months now. She has cut her top four front teeth in the past months s a half. She got over an ear infection only to get a yeast infection diaper rash from the antibiotic. She is completely better from all that and sleeping much better. Thank heavens! She prefers to cruse around on her feet with the wall or some object for stability, unless she needs it fast. Then she crawls on her hands and feet or one knee and one foot alternately. She is standing and balancing on her own these days for longer and longer. I think she will take off running one day soon. (She has taken several steps on her own, no more than 10 together, but only walks when she wants.) Don't worry she has taken to climbing, just for fun! She is a pro at stairs too, both up and down. (The fastest any of my kids have got them.)
Her hair is starting to grow more and has a good possibility of staying red but we probably won't know for a year or so when it actually grows some.
Daryl is three. He is fun and on the go. He is so sweet and completely his own little man. I still am in awe at him because he is definitely different from the girls. He loves the color orange, tractors-mostly John Deere, but anything really. He loves to be outside and dig and work and do whatever. He likes to "read" books and be read too. He loves me but basically every morning asks where his dad is and if it is time to get him or when he will be home. He LOVES Glen and is usually his shadow. He likes being around other men or boys too. We are lucky he is around his grandpas a lot and has a lot of boy cousins. In nursery they had an older couple and he loved the man. They became best buds. He loves and puts up with all the girls in his life but really would be happy with a little more manliness.
He could be potty trained. He knows whats going on and will regularly pee in the toilet but he hasn't decided it is worth it yet and does't want all of the things he has been promised once he is potty trained. Someday, right?
Lucy is fun, Today she came up to me and said, "Mom, we need to hug." We did. She likes to cuddle and is a morning person.She finds me in the mornings so she can cuddle for a little bit before she really starts going. She loves school and is doing great. She just passed off all the bookshelves in the reading program and is on to chapter books. She likes math but I think her favorite thing is to draw and create things. She does this all the time. She loves her tumbling class and is always practicing something. She is a super helper with Ruth and will come up and take her from me just to hold her for a little bit. She just got done playing basketball and had fun with that.
Lilly is our try anything gal. She is happy to report she just finished The Sisters Grimm book series. She really liked it. Now she is looking for something else. She is in a different class from last year and not in the ALPS program this year. She really likes it. She has gotten to make a lot of new friends and though she could do all of the work in the other class, likes not feeling pushed. She reads a lot. She likes her gymnastics class but is thinking of switching to tumbling. She likes playing the viola but not really practicing it. She loves to write and draw. Her teacher has raved about one of her stories that they wrote for Halloween. It got put in her portfolio for the end of the year so I didn't get to read it yet. She is growing up and will be in the double digit ages in May. She is funny and silly and loves reading the comics. She is learning to embroidery from Grandma Egbert and also just finished up playing basketball.
Glen is doing his normal work and going to school, serving in his calling, being a great husband and dad thing. He hasn't had too much work at his weekend job lately. It has been really nice to not have his schedule all weird on the weekends but we miss the income a bit. He is super as always.
I am trying to keep up with the five people mentioned above, while also helping Evelyn and Roberta and babysitting two extra kids a few days a week. It's fun and makes life really full. I gave up trying to help in the girls class rooms this school year. It was just too hard to get a babysitter for my little two or to have them with me with out them (mostly Daryl) terrorizing everything.
