I keep falling behind at this recording our doings and happenings thing but it is something I know is important and I want to become better at so I will continue  persisting. I will have to go back and cover other things but here is today. 
Glen and I teach Sunday school. This month's topic is marriage and family. We have talked about journaling, the importance of marriage and family and family history. I challenged the kids to write in their journal at least three times in the week two weeks ago. I failed but hope to make up for it. This week I challenged them to find something new about their family history. It could be a name or a story from a parent or grandparent or someone farther back. I have some research to do, so I can do this. It will be interesting to see how the kids do with it.
 
A more noteable event from today was the get together at Joel and Lesley's house. It was in part to celebrate M'Li's birthday and to just get together. Glen's whole side of the family came and M'Li, Hana and Hayden as well as Aunt Patty and Uncle Fred. Kayden and Kaia were there and a friend of Joel and Lesley's but I never got his name. 
I love family gatherings. It makes my heart happy to visit with people I love and get to know them more and to have my kids play with cousins and build relationships with them. 
Here are some pictures. Something I thought was funny is part of Glen's motive for wanting to go. You see he missed when Joel and Lesley came to his parents and we had dinner with them and the roadster rides happened. So he may have really wanted to.go to see the cool cars ...and his cousins. He said that his present to M'Li could be him taking her in a ride in her brother's roadster. Hahaha. It didn't really happen. He did get to drive it! 
Aunt Patty was trying to help Topher remember her name and in the process she was teasing him and he ended up saying,"You don't even know your own name?"
One of Daryl's favorite people is 'MikaylaB' or 'Kaylab' as he calls her! She is so good to him.
It was a fun, low key, great night!

Holy cow, you've been blogging all summer and I hadn't even been here to see it all! Thank you so much for the pictures and reports of fun with my siblings. You take really great photos. And I felt the same way you did about that night in the park in Alpine--wish I had better conversation skills and had gotten more visiting with almost everyone there!

Thank you for reporting and taking pictures! I saw Joel, Lesley and kids last night and they mentioned this get together, so it was extra fun to hear about Glen and the roadster and see pictures. (This made me wish even more that I had taken pictures last night!)

It's so sweet that Daryl loves MaKayla. Your kids must have been very busy, because there weren't too many pictures of them here!

I can't express quite how much I love these photos. Maybe Ruth driving Grandpa's car is the best one -- but then, again, maybe it's Kaia hugging Lesley. You are a great photo maker.

July 15-19  Early Monday morning we went to the Provo airport to head to John Wayne airport then down to San Diego to celebrate Larry and Janene's 50th wedding anniversary. We met up with everyone but Josh and his girlfriend, Amberlee in Provo. They left earlier and drove so they could visit her family as well. My dad is a bit John Wayne fan so we had to take a picture with The Duke at his airport for him.  Once we had our luggage, rental van and food in our bellies we had to get sand between our toes and salt water at least on our feet. We ate at a fun little place in San Clemente called Cafe Rae. It was really little. Our group of nine took up about half their seats. It was really good food and they had great hospitality.  Our next stop was the USS Midway in San Diego. Larry had talked about visiting this and the Saint Mary for a long time. My cup with blessings overflows

 I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
