Life is moving right along. We had a good summer with fun family trips with each side of the family. School has started and it’s going to be an exciting year.
Glen got to stay at Riverton High which is great because Lilly and him go to school together. It is his fourth year there.
Lilly’s is a sophomore. We thought she was going to have to do early morning seminary to fit in all her classes but we adjusted some things and are all so happy. We are only a week in to school and she is already so busy and involved. We are all happy for the extra sleep. She has stage crew, theater, physics, 11 honors math, French 1, 11 honors English, release time, and AP European History. She is in a one act play at the high school called Squirrel Girl, auditioned to be on the Shakespeare team but didn’t make it on that or tech olympics, and was cast as Oaken the shop keeper in our community theaters production of Frozen Jr. Her schedule makes me tired thinking about it.
Lucy started 7th grade and seems to be doing well. She likes peaking in to wave at Aunt Janae who moved schools over the summer and is teaching at her school. She has a good schedule but wishes they would offer better electives to 7th graders.
Daryl is in 3rd grade and loves that his teacher only believes in reading homework. He is adjusting to being the oldest at the elementary school and walking to and from school with Ruth. He is done with Irish dancing and thinks he wants to try basketball or soccer. He loves cub scouts and 4-h club. He also likes to take things apart to see how they were made and how they work. He has been growing a ton lately and seems to need a whole new wardrobe, nothing fits quite like it did.
Ruth has FINALLY started all day school and loves it. She was so excited but nervous because she only knew one person in her class. She seems to have made friends quickly. She is very motivated by screen time and will do about anything if it will result in her getting to be in the computer or watch some tv. She also is still only likes to eat a few things and they aren’t really served for school lunch.
Beth is adjusting to everyone being gone. She is a good little side kick. She comes to Evelyn and Roberta’s with me and gets to play with her cousin Ellie, tease Evelyn and sometimes gets special rides in chitty chitty with grandma Richins. She is excited to start preschool tomorrow and it has been a good motivator for her to be potty trained. She is almost there! She is very independent and keeps me on my toes. Earlier this week she found some money and slipped out to go to the vending machine at the neighbors. She found out she isn’t tall enough to make the machine work and we have very nice people around us that were very concerned where her mother was. She didn’t like all those strangers talking to her though. That was the price of sorting laundry that day.
I am plugging along trying to keep the house going and get people to the places they need to be. I am still doing all the things but definitely not so well. Roberta and Evelyn have been getting the majority of my attention. Roberta has declined drastically the last month and we expect her to pass any day. Evelyn is having a hard time with it as can be expected.
This dying process is so much harder than I thought, but I am so glad I get to help these ladies through the end of their days. They mean so much to me and have been so good to me.
And like my friend who’s husband just passed says, “ It’s only hard and it only hurts so much because we loved them so much.”

She made the junior high volleyball team, like last year. She moved up two teams, which should be a fun challenge for her and she will be playing volleyball at the rec center in a week. She is going to have a lot of volleyball in her life just like she likes it.
