Lilly sang one of her solos in her MDT class this week. The piano is really loud but I thought she did a super job, and since we just passed the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the song seems fitting. I embedded the video but incase that doesn’t work there is a link as well.

The younger kids had their school fun run. Ruth ran 25 laps in 20 minutes. The laps were 1/10 of a mile so that was 2.5 miles. That was second fastest in 3rd grade so she got an extra shirt.
Daryl ran 18 laps and was happy with that. He die love running.
Beth was the sparkliest runner on the course and ran 19 laps.
On the way home Beth couldn’t resist hanging upside down from the neighbor’s gate rails. Just after this picture we met our neighbor who was having a bad day. Her younger dogs had attacked her old dog, Annie. Annie was in bad shape and we helped her get Annie in her car so they could go to the vet. It was a sad and tender experience. It was a good chance to talk with Beth about what happens after people or animals die and the reason we miss them so much is because we love them and don’t get to have them around right now.
Later that day Beth picked some of my roses and took to the neighbors. They really appreciated that. I went with Beth to deliver the flowers and offered hugs. They ended up putting another dog down, who they thought was responsible for the attack. It’s rough to lose animals.
On a much happier note, Lilly went to homecoming with Dallin. She had a super time. He is a fun kid and has the confidence of three people. Also worth noting is that Glen and I got to go out to lunch with my parents, siblings and their spouses just before this,( it was no small feat to make that happen but well worth it.) then rushed home stopping by a couple stores to grab last minute essentials (flowers and a bra that would work with the dress) to make Lilly’s homecoming date a success. Marian also arrived at the perfect time to put together a bouteneier out of things we had on hand and the flowers just purchased.
School is moving along. I feel like I am drinking knowledge from a fire hose again.
We are a week behind where we wanted to be on Larry and Janene’s floors.The master closet and back bedroom are done!
We spent a lot of time cleaning the house on Saturday. It needed some love. I listened to twopodcasts that have given me a lot to think about from All In.
At my gathering class, we talked about schedules and how to make school work with everything else. Luis, who just joined our group this semester talked about how it’s so easy to follow his schedule. He sees it is time to study, so he sets a timer and does that until it goes off. Then he moves on to the next thing he is suppose to do. It was a great thing for me to hear because my brain gives me all kinds of mental chatter about following schedules trying to keep it complicated. This made obedience to schedules seem simple. It was just what I needed.
I went to a great adult session of Stake conference. The things I took away were to follow the prophet, act on the thoughts you have to help other people and love others and you are loved.
So many good things! I am excited to listen to the episodes of All In you just linked. I don't think I have heard those ones yet. And I HEAR YOU on the brain chatter and scheduling!!!! One of the things that really stood out to me in conference were the several times we were warned to beware of distractions. That was definitely for me. Also, Lily's homecoming outfit was wonderful and her date with the "confidence of three people" made me grin. I always just like to watch that. It's secretly so much fun and a little funny.
The running report made me grin. The flooring hang ups are a hassle. I’m so glad your neighbours have a sweet girl and you to help them out. I couldn’t get the audio to come on for Lily’s song, but at least she looked good. Keep on drinking - someday soon you’re going to have a taste for fire hose water.

Lilly is so beautiful and accomplished! Love to hear her sing. And Beth is an adorable little monkey!! So sorry about your neighbor's dog. That is really tough stuff, but it sounds like you made it into a teaching opportunity. There's some stellar parenting there. Good luck with school!! I'm so impressed. Maybe one day I will follow your example and go back. Again. It's hard to face! You're my hero!!
July 15-19 Early Monday morning we went to the Provo airport to head to John Wayne airport then down to San Diego to celebrate Larry and Janene's 50th wedding anniversary. We met up with everyone but Josh and his girlfriend, Amberlee in Provo. They left earlier and drove so they could visit her family as well. My dad is a bit John Wayne fan so we had to take a picture with The Duke at his airport for him. Once we had our luggage, rental van and food in our bellies we had to get sand between our toes and salt water at least on our feet. We ate at a fun little place in San Clemente called Cafe Rae. It was really little. Our group of nine took up about half their seats. It was really good food and they had great hospitality. Our next stop was the USS Midway in San Diego. Larry had talked about visiting this and the Saint Mary for a long time. It was one of the main reasons we went to San Diego. It was nice to make it happen. I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many. Being home to attend church with our ward. Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well. They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life. A great less...
Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now! Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player. Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part. Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard. Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team. Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down. The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
