We made it to the end of the school year!
We have been having a cooler and wetter spring than normal. We have been getting afternoon rain storms pretty often. There were two different days that we prayed for the weather to cooperate and those prayers were answered. The first was June 2nd in the evening for Herriman High’s graduation that was on their football field. Storms were forecast for the time of graduation but they came early. It rained hard before 5 pm but after was just overcast and cool. Making it perfect for an outdoor graduation.
The second time was the next morning for field day at the elementary. All the activities were outside and we were hoping to avoid moving things inside because of too much rain or lightening. There was a little rain but only enough to bother the adults. The kids didn’t mind at all and no lightening. It was wonderful.

When I was dropping Daryl off to do yard work at Larry and Janene’s house, Paige stopped by to visit! Then we set up to go to the temple together the next morning while Larry and Janene were there. It was wonderful!
Lucy made it through AP Euro and dug herself out of the homework hole she got in with all the fourth quarter events. I am so happy she kept working through the grief, frustration and desire to give up. I also really appreciate her teachers working with her and being flexible.
The new volleyball coach for the high school has been a breath of fresh air for the girls that have played the last few years. The open gym sessions have been fun, engaging and positive. It is not something they had with the previous coach. It’s been such a good change.
Beth had a first grade teacher from heaven. She would send Beth thank you notes in the mail for the notes and pictures Beth would give her. She always stayed positive and noticed the effort she was giving and progress Beth was making. Beth had multiple days in the last few weeks of school, were she was sad to be ending her time with Mrs. George. She wanted her for another year.
Ruth’s teacher has a super power for working with 4th and 5th graders. Her weekly emails regularly made me laugh out loud with her wit and honesty about 4th graders. When her friend and fellow teacher got sick earlier this year, Ms. Thomson took on doing lesson plans for that class with out making a fuss about it. Then when that friend died and the family came to get her friends belongings before the end of the year, she divided what she had in her classroom. Sharing what she could so the kids in her friends class would have a room that looked somewhat familiar.
Daryl’s teacher seemed good but was hard to get a gauge on. He had some hard kids in his class that he dealt with pretty well. I learned that how a teacher decorates their room says a lot about their teaching. Mr. A was a minimalist making it hard to know what was being taught or what had been gone over. I am hoping middle school won't be a rude awakening because he wasn't challenged enough.
