It may surprise you what the Lord has done

There are several things from this week and a couple from last week that didn’t get mentioned that are just really great blessings.

We took Evelyn to the dermatologist last week. It was quite the ordeal. She doesn’t really go anywhere anymore but she went, rather felt like she was kidnapped and forced to go. The silver lining was some tender moments with Evelyn and Marian, the nurse or medical assistant being a lady that use to live in Herriman and knew Evelyn, and a caring doctor willing to listen to us and our needs while meeting our strict criteria.

Evelyn has needed a a haircut for months. We have been trying to get the lady that comes to her house lined up to come with no success. She was able to get us the perm though. Marian’s friend was willing to come do the perm on Monday. Evelyn wasn’t sure if she knew what she was doing but she was so happy with the end result.

Aunt Melodee is here visiting and helping with Evelyn. It is good to have her around and have her help.

A tender learning moment with Beth about the fragility of life after an accident with a chick. A wise grandma that let the lesson be learned with out any reproach for losing a chick.

A day with Brandy to make cupcakes for her sister’s birthday and her hang out with our family.

People to teach Daryl a sport I know nothing about but he is enjoying more and more. It is teaching good life skills besides the game of rugby.

Goslings on the canal.

The rose bushes I ordered months ago arrived this week. Saturday my kids helped me plant them.  I am hoping we did a good job and  we’ll have beautiful flowers for years to come.

A body that is working hard for me and getting me the places I want to go on foot. It’s retaining much of the information and knowledge I am trying to shove in my head and though my shape and waistline aren’t really going down like I would like, I can’t really expect anymore of it with the amount of rest I am getting.

A silly baby goat that found it much easier to taste the grass on the panther side of the fence and not so easy to get her head back on the other side. And concern neighbors and passers by that didn’t want the goats head stuck anymore than we did.

Riding bikes to preschool on the last regular day with Beth and Glen being available to walk her in to class when we were late and I forgot a mask. Also being able to find a mask hidden in Beth’s back pack when we forgot them in our rush to get on the road.

Working with most of my siblings and their families to give my mom the Mother’s Day present she wanted, and getting it done in the time frame we had allotted for it.

Church in person with both hours of meetings. It’s so nice to have in person Sunday school and primary again.

An after church hike with the whole family. Everyone liked it a lot there was minimal whining or complaining.  Beth got to learn the value of socks and the right shoes but also helped me take in all the pretty flowers along the trail.

Sunday dinner with Jed’s family. Our kids enjoying cousin time and the grown ups being able to “talk that whole time,” as Ruth put it.

It's the details and blessings that make meaning of our lives. These were wonderful details. Having a fresh haircut and friends who help baby goats make the way so much easier!

I'm glad you take good care of your mother and also good care of Evelyn. Having strangers to help you get the baby goat's head out of the fence was a great blessing. I'm pleased with your attitude toward the body where you live. It's a healthy way to think.

California here we come

July 15-19  Early Monday morning we went to the Provo airport to head to John Wayne airport then down to San Diego to celebrate Larry and Janene's 50th wedding anniversary. We met up with everyone but Josh and his girlfriend, Amberlee in Provo. They left earlier and drove so they could visit her family as well. My dad is a bit John Wayne fan so we had to take a picture with The Duke at his airport for him.  Once we had our luggage, rental van and food in our bellies we had to get sand between our toes and salt water at least on our feet. We ate at a fun little place in San Clemente called Cafe Rae. It was really little. Our group of nine took up about half their seats. It was really good food and they had great hospitality.  Our next stop was the USS Midway in San Diego. Larry had talked about visiting this and the Saint Mary for a long time. It was one of the main reasons we went to San Diego. It was nice to make it happen. I am not really in to military stuff but it was...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
